A JAPANESE SATSUMA VASE BY MAKUZU KOZAN (1842-1916)
MEIJI PERIOD, 19TH CENTURY
The bulbous vase decorated with swallows amongst tall grasses on a ground of horizontal lines, with vines and grapes in high relief applied to the shoulder, the neck and foot with bands of various geometrical designs, stamped Makuzu Kozan tsukuru in a gourd-shaped reserve to the base, 26.5cm.
