The four oban tate-e from the series Fuzoku sanjuni so (Thirty-two Aspects of Customs and Manners of Women), comprising: a beauty modestly covering her mouth, entitled 'Embarrassed/Shy: Habits of a young woman of the Meiji era'; another depicting a courtesan resting her head on a pillow, entitled 'Sleepy: Habits of a prostitute of the Meiji era'; the third catching a firefly, entitled 'Happy: Habits of a modern geisha of the Meiji era'; the last depicted amongst irises and wearing a Western dress, entitled 'Strolling: Habits of the wife of a nobleman of the Meiji era', each print approx. 24cm x 36cm.
