Of bulbous shape with a delicate folded rim, the body decorated with a succession of hills covered with thick woods, snow blanketing further hills in the distance; the base signed Shumei, 27.5cm; together with a tomobako wood box, with an inscription reading as 'a vase, entitled Early Spring, made by Shumei, a friend of Nitten Exhibition'; accompanied by a document hand-written by Shumei about the firing of this vase and his passion for ceramics and dedication to his kiln in Arita.
