A JAPANESE KEYAKI (ELM) STORAGE BOX AND COVER
POSSIBLY MEIJI, 19TH OR 20TH CENTURY
The tall rectangular wooden box with four tiers, three of similar sizes and one larger, lacquered black on the inside; with chrysanthemum-shaped metal fittings to the sides suspending loose rings, with a silk tie and paper labels to the side, 23cm x 17.8cm x 33cm. (5)
This box was used to house an extensive collection of netsuke and other sagemono.
