A JAPANESE INLAID WOOD SAYA INRO
MEIJI ERA, 19TH CENTURY
Possibly made of kurogaki (persimmon wood), decorated with a variety of vegetables in relief including a pumpkin, its surface rendered with minute grains and seeds; two small lacquer aubergines, and a lotus root made of pewter; the inner drawer divided into three compartments with three small paper containers, 7.8cm. (5)
