A JAPANESE THREE-CASE LACQUER INRO

EDO/MEIJI PERIOD

Decorated in maki-e, takaramaki-e and negoro with the God of Good Fortune Daikoku standing on a barge, with a large sack slung over his shoulder and brandishing his mallet before him, the reverse with an attendant moving the boat, with a small ojime shaped as an hazelnut, unmarked, 6.2cm max.

Provenance: the collection of an English gentleman, acquired from Spink.
