A SMALL JAPANESE BLUE AND WHITE FOOTED CUP
EDO OR MEIJI PERIOD, 19TH CENTURY
The inside decorated with a band enclosing figures and buildings in a mountainous river landscape, the outside with formal lotus flowers amongst scrolling tendrils and beribboned Buddhist symbols, inscribed to the base Kanzan Kin Sei (Respectfully made by Kenzan), 7.3cm.
This mark is sometimes found on Kyoto wares associated with the studio of Kenzan / Kato Denshichi (1821-90). In 1873, he won the Silver Prize for his work at the Vienna World Exhibition.
