MEIJI PERIOD, 19TH OR 20TH CENTURY
The bulbous body decorated with two large panels enclosing Immortals and attendants to one side and beauties and children to the other, all reserved on a bright navy-blue ground painted with a dense pattern of scrolling tendrils and flowerheads; with bamboo-shaped handles decorated with gilt karakusa scrolls and hanabishi mon, the lid with similar decoration, inscribed to the base and with an impressed seal mark, both reading Kinkozan zo, 12.3cm.
