A SMALL JAPANESE SATSUMA BOWL BY MEIZAN

MEIJI PERIOD, 19TH CENTURY

Delicately painted to the well with a kaleidoscope of butterflies amongst flower sprays, the rim with brocade designs; the exterior decorated with a dense pattern of many chrysanthemum flowerheads in a variety of shades, between a band of key fret and further geometrical patterns, the base signed Meizan in an oval cartouche, 12.1cm.

Provenance: sold on behalf of an English deceased estate, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire.
