A SET OF FIVE JAPANESE BLUE AND WHITE KRAAK-STYLE DISHES
EDO PERIOD, 17TH CENTURY
All typically decorated with a central panel enclosing a stylised cricket on a rock amongst vegetation, bordered with panels of flowers and auspicious symbols, two with kintsugi gold lacquer repairs, all approx. 14.5cm. (5)
Provenance: from the collection of the late Gas Kimishima, wood-fire potter and specialist in the ancient kilns of Japan, purchased in Japan and thence by descent. Gas established his studio in England and built his own anagama kiln in Tring, Hertfordshire.
