The first depicting Hanasaka Jiisan with his dog raking through a pile of gold coins, signed Shokyusai; the four others carved as chubby-looking puppies, one resting on a rooftile, another on an awabi shell, the third with a fish and the last a bitch with her young, some with signatures including Ranichi, Hakuryu, and Shokyusai, 5.2cm max. (5)
Provenance: from the collection of a lady of title, and thence by descent.
