Asian Art II - lots 102-401
Tuesday 19th May, following Fine Asian Art

The sale will feature a selection of items relating to the Samurai, including fantastic 'kawari kabuto' helmets shaped as a large seashell and an elephant trunk, and an 18th century suit of armour. The auction will also present a wide selection of items including ukiyo-e woodblock prints (notably a number of albums by Hokusai), early Japanese porcelain from the Edo period, 19th century metalworks of the type included in international exhibitions, netsuke and other sagemono, an extensive selection of 20th century artworks, and a fascinating Japanese collection from the family who original owned the famous Salvator Mundi by Leonardo da Vinci.

The Japanese department also held a special exhibition titled 'Samurai: Beyond the Blade' on 29th April at our Mayfair Galleries; watch the video below for more information about the lots on view:

A perfect companion to the British Museum's 'Samurai' exhibition - the exhibition offered an intimate look at the private world of the Japanese warrior.

Some of the highlights from the Samurai exhibition will be on display again during our London viewing on 9th, 10th and 11th May at 17 (2F) Clifford Street, Mayfair W1S 3RQ, from 11am-4pm.

Please contact the department for more information.
