A SMALL COLLECTION OF JAPANESE EDGED WEAPONS
Comprising: a sword (o-wakizashi), blade 21.75 in., hon-zukuri, o-suriage nakago with two-character mei (Nobu Kuni), associated koshirai including fuchi and kashira depicting folded fans; another sword (wakizashi), blade 16.5 in., faint suguha hamon, suriage nakago, associated mountings including a kozuka (lacking blade) depicting a warrior emerging from a tent; another sword (wakizashi), blade 16.75 in., mumei, composite koshirae including an iron tsuba with concentric grooves and menuki representing feathers; a dagger (tanto), blade 11.75 in, ubu-zukuri, copper fittings with lightly engraved decoration; another dagger (aikuchi tanto), a composite weapon with a re-shaped sword blade and with 20th century mounts; and another dagger (tanto), also a composite, the blade fashioned from part of a Shōwa era military sword blade, plain copper fittings; together with three books: Fuller and Gregory, 'Military Swords of Japan 1868-1945'; and two other titles; and a stand for two swords, inlaid with a dragon in mother of pearl.
