Each square tray with slightly rounded sides and raised on four short circular feet, each decorated with cherry blossoms and maple leaves scattered across the surface, rendered in gold and red hiramaki-e lacquer on the black roiro ground; in a tomobako (wood box) inscribed Kuro suimono-wan shunjū-ga (black trays with spring and autumn painting) and signed and sealed Shunshō, 24.2cm.
