EDO/MEIJI, 19TH CENTURY
Of typical form, carved from a single block of zelkova (keyaki), richly patinated and polished to reveal the extensive wood grain, 37.5cm.
Provenance: from the collection of Robert L Stolper of Stolper Galleries. Robert worked with Asian and African art from the 1940s onwards in Amsterdam, Munich, New York and the UK.
