A Japanese scroll painting in ink, colour and gold on silk; the 'Great Sun Buddha' depicted wearing ornate robes and a tall headdress containing five smaller figures; the Cosmic Buddha with his hand in dhyana mudra and his legs crossed, a triple halo behind him; seated on an elaborate lotus throne, raised on a vajra supported by a Dharmachakra (Dharma wheel), on a ground of rhomboid patterns enclosing scrolling waves; with silk mounts, framed and glazed, 117cm x 60cm.
