TAISHŌ ERA, DATED 1924
A Japanese six-fold byōbu (paper screen), sumi ink on silver leaf, painted with a large flowering prunus tree and bamboo sprays issuing from rockwork; a long poem to the side celebrating 'beauty blooming in the cold moonlight', signed Tetsuzan/Hariyama Senshi, 'at the age of seventy-seven', and dated Taisho 13 (1924), 172cm x 372cm.
Provenance: from an English private collection, Surrey; purchased from Kathryn Milan Oriental Antiques, Tokyo, 24th September 1996; copies of the certificate of antiquity and invoice are available.
