A JAPANESE SOMADA SCHOOL TWO-CASE LACQUER INRO
EDO 1615-1868
The body decorated with typical iridescent shell inlays and kirikane, nashiji and fundame, one side with a small spider weaving its net and the other with a silver moon peeking from behind clouds, the lower tiers with various depictions of flowers and leafy branches, the shoulder, underside and the cord runners with brocade patterns and mon, together with a wood ojime and a netsuke shaped as a straw hat, the inro 5.7cm.
