TWO JAPANESE ARITA BOWLS
18TH CENTURY
Both decorated in underglaze blue and with green, red and purple enamels and gilt, the largest with four panels shaped as reishi-heads containing stylised lotus flowers and scrolling tendrils alternating with chrysanthemum mon, on a bright green diaper ground, the underside with further shaped panels of flowers and with a fuku mark to the base, the other with a scalloped body decorated with fan-shaped panels of flowers and geometrical designs, both with paper labels for the Mary & Peter White Collection, 20.4cm and 18.1cm respectively.
