Highlights include a rare and large Japanese Nanban chest, dating from 1580-1620 and originally produced for the Portuguese market. There will also be a large number of woodblock prints, including a fine album featuring a triptych by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi of ‘Fujiwara no Yasumasa Playing the Flute by Moonlight’. Early porcelain will also feature, with a rare Kakiemon candlestick and a charming pair of Arita models of chickens, amongst others. A Namikawa Yasuyuki vase and cover decorated with a landscape will also be offered as part of our selection of cloisonné pieces.
The sale will also feature Korean works of Art, and notably a gilt-bronze figure of Shakyamuni Buddha, dating from the Unified Silla Dynasty (8th-9th century).
