A signature reading Kisetsu koku, 16cm.
Depicting Kakinomoto no Hitomaro, the poet depicted seated, resting against an arm rest, holding a brush in one hand and a book in another, signed underneath.
Kakinomoto no Hitomaro (c.653–655 –c.707-710) was a famous poet celebrated for his prominent role in the Man'yōshū, Japan's oldest waka poetry anthology. He excelled in various poetic forms and is remembered as one of the Thirty-six Poetry Immortals, leaving a lasting legacy in Japanese literary history.
