This series depicts characters from different Noh plays, each representing one of the twelve months of the year. Matsuno Sofu was trained by Tsukioka Kogyo (1869-1927), who was known for his depictions of Noh plays. The series captures the elegance and variety of costumes and masks used in Noh theater.
