A JAPANESE GOLD LACQUER SIX-CASE INRO
EDO OR MEIJI PERIOD, 19TH CENTURY
The tall body decorated to the top and sides with a continuous design of a mountainous river landscape, with waterfalls amongst luxuriant vegetation and above crashing waves, the design rendered in gold and silver takamaki-e, shishiai togidashi maki-e, nashiji and kirikane lacquer, a three-character signature reading Kajikawa saku to the base, 10.5cm.
Provenance: an American private collection, purchased 1990s-2010s.
