A LARGE AND IMPRESSIVE JAPANESE BRONZE VASE BY KIMOURA TOUN

MEIJI PERIOD, 19TH CENTURY

The baluster-shaped body with a flared rim and cast with a scaly dragon emerging from crashing waves, its ferocious head in high relief; raised on an impressive stand shaped as another writhing dragon; the vase signed Toun kore wa tsukuru in a rectangular cartouche underneath the dragon's tail, 56.5cm overall.
