A JAPANESE INLAID BRONZE VASE BY CHISHINSAI KATSUNOBU
MEIJI OR TAISHO PERIOD, 20TH CENTURY
The pear-shaped body with a flared rim and raised on a short foot, the surface decorated with a continuous design of figures in a mountainous river landscape, two conversing on the balcony of a building on stilts and with a temple visible in the distance, a small boat sailing at the back of the vase; the decoration rendered with gold inlays and studs, with details in kebori and katakiribori, signed Katsunobu and with a seal for Chishinsai, 22.5cm.
