An amber and garnet cigarette case, circa 1896, of rectangular outline with rounded corners in polished amber, mounted in gold, the push-piece set with a cushion-shaped garnet, opening to reveal a plain interior, measuring 7.9 x 5.1 x 1.9cm, stamped 18CT, maker's mark HA

Accompanied by a calling card from Lord Hylton stating that the cigarette was given to Hylton George Hylton Jolliffe, 3rd Baron Hylton (1862-1945), by his father in law Frederick Hervey, 3rd Marquess of Bristol (1834-1907) on the occasion of Lord Hylton's marriage to his daughter Lady Alice Adeliza Hervey in 1896
