A gold ruler with partly concealed pencils by Mellerio dits Meller, with calibrated markings for inches (up to eight) to one side and centimetres (up to twenty) to the other, one terminal with concealed pencils (plain, red and blue), and to the other a dip pen, with knife and bodkin, each mounted with an emerald, turquoise, pearl, ruby, sapphire and black stone (probably hematite), signed Mellerieo dits Meller Paris 1199 D, and 750 with a cross, 22.3cm long, centre opening fitted case by Mellerio dits Meller, silk lining signed to both sides and repeated to the reverse
