A gilt-metal and gem-set stomacher, by Cox Buckley & Co, c1881-1900, the large cartouche with ropetwist border and garland repoussé detail, with amethysts and garnets in foiled and closed-back settings, decorated with gold cannetille and repoussé borders taken from earlier 19th century jewels c1830-40, signed Cox Buckley & Co. London to reverse, 16.5cm long

Cox Buckley & Co. operated in London between 1881 and 1900 following a merger between Cox and Sons (Est. 1837) and Buckley & Co. The firm produced church furnishings and metalwork and was strongly associated with the Gothic revival, Aesthetic and Art & Crafts movements of the second half of the 19th century.
