A gold and enamel snuffbox, 19th century, of cut-cornered rectangular outline, the lid and base applied with a central panel of black enamel with a pattern of dots in reserve, within a stippled gold border and outer band of white enamel, between side panels engraved with horizontal and diagonal stripes, the sides of similar design, opening to reveal a plain interior, measuring 8.7 x 5.7 x 1.5cm, indistinct assay marks, maker's mark FJ beneath three crowns, numbered 6389, gross weight 118 grams
