A 19th century carved ivory profile portrait mounted on an oval carnelian plaque in cameo style
A 19th century carved ivory profile portrait mounted on an oval carnelian plaque in cameo style, gold Etruscan-style frame with pendant loop, c.1860, pendant 6.5cm high
The profile has a strong resemblance to Sir John Everett Millais (1829-1896). He was an English painter and illustrator who was one of the founders of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. He became the youngest student to enter the Royal Academy schools at the age of eleven.
