A rare pair of Second World War Kriegsmarine U-Boat conning tower binoculars, by Carl Zeiss, brass with rubber eye cups on hinged mounts, top plate inscribed 'UDF 7x50', '242785' and 'blc', lever marked 'HELL' and 'DUNKEL' to actuate an internal sun shade (not functioning), designed to resist the pressure resulting from an emergency dive if left in the conning tower.
