An early 18th Century English silver hilted small sword
An early 18th Century English silver hilted small sword, hollow triangular-section blade 31 in., finely engraved at the forte with panels of scrolls; hilt with slightly eccentric twin shell guards, two finger rings rising from the quillon block, drop terminal rear quillon, slender knucklebow, fluted globular pommel, braided silver wire bound grip finished with Turk's heads of finer wire at top and bottom, the whole decorated in high relief with classical busts within panels of scrolling foliage, the main parts having reeded edges, indistinct mark to the knuckle bow.
