A British 1842 pattern percussion cavalry pistol
A British 1842 pattern percussion cavalry pistol, .75 calibre (musket bore) barrel 9 in., with various crown inspection marks, the breech initialled 'W.J', 'J.M.' and 'C.H.'; lock plated with line engraved border and signed 'E. LONDON / LONDON', replacement hammer; full stock with brass furniture, Lovell's sidenail cups, captive steel ramrod. Blackmore records an Edward London, gunmaker, at 51 London Wall between 1828-66.
