A 17th century English duelling rapier, slender diamond-section blade 36.5 in. steel guard formed of two oval shells pierced in a lattice pattern and supported by slender arms and side rings descending from the fluted quillon block, slender scroll-terminal quillons, fluted ovoid pommel with button finial, grip bound with braided wire between Turks' head knots, c. 1630.
