Joseph Charles Selby enlisted on the 10th of November 1955 and passed parachute training on the 30th of January 1956 before joining the 3rd Battalion of the Parachute Regiment. Posted to Cyprus he returned to the UK on 16 Aug 1956 for refresher parachute training before taking part in the last operational parachute drop carried out by the British army when six hundred men of 3 PARA parachuted onto El Gamil airfield as the first wave of Operation MUSKETEER and captured it from the Egyptians on the 5th of November 1956. Offered with a copy of the recipient's service record confirming the aforementioned details.
