City of Cairo: a set of three salvaged British Indian silver rupees: Victoria, 1900; Edward VII, 1906; George V, 1918; in plastic cases incorporating explanatory labels and presented in a fitted wooden box with accompanying certificate; offered with a booklet: 'Salvation and Salvage, The Story of the SS City of Cairo', by Justin Robinson.



S.S. City of Cairo was a British passenger steamer. She was torpedoed and sunk on the 6th of November 1942 by U-Boat U-68, with great loss of civilian life.
