A swept hilt rapier
A swept hilt rapier, diamond-section blade 43 in.; the guard formed of oval section bars, two long quillons, arms supporting a side ring, a series of transverse bars proceeding from the arms and from the quillon block and converging with the knuckle bow which terminates in a simplified representation of a monstrous head, flattened pommel with four concave faces, one engraved with a gothic 'F' and another with a drake (apparently an allusion to Sir Francis Drake).
