Ethiopia, Emperor Menelik II: two military swords: i) curved German blade 32.25 in., etched with the Lion of Judah and St George slaying the dragon between panels of foliage and stands of arms, Amharic inscriptions, thermometer mark of Höller and 'G.G.', steel stirrup hilt with Lion of Judah to the outer langet; ii) curved blade 32.5 in. with scrolling and architectural decoration etched to the broad fullers, the Lion of Judah and the Emperor's bust etched to either side of the ricasso, stirrup hilt with lion head pommel and composition grip; each sword with a hand stitched scabbard.
