A gorget
A gorget, composed of large shaped plates front and rear with recessed borders, roped lower and scalloped upper edges; the neck covered by two circular lames, the lower with scalloped edge and the upper roped; flexibility accomplished by rivets riding in vertical slots, the whole assembly hinged at the left of the upper lame, and secured at the right by a post and hole to the upper lame, and a stud locking into a shaped hole on the lower plates; in the manner of the late 16th century and thought to be of the period.
