Four medals to Able Seaman William J. Stockwell, Royal Navy: Naval General Service 1909-62, clasp: Persian Gulf 1909-1914 (J. 2697. W. J. STOCKWELL. ORD. H.M.S. FOX); 1914-15 Star, British War Medal 1914-20 and Victory Medal (J. 2697. W. J. STOCKWELL. A.B. R.N.); mounted for wearing, the first with some edge bruising, otherwise all about very fine. [4]
Stockwell's register of service indicates that he served in H.M.S. Fox between June 1910 and July 1912. During this period (October 1910) Fox took part in a the defence of the town of Lingeh, which was threatened by a war party under Ghulam Hosein, Khan of Warabi.
