A small collection of First World War medals to the 18th Battalion London Regiment (London Irish Rifles), comprising: a pair: British War Medal 1914-20 and Victory Medal (4064 PTE. W. R. CROCKFORD. 18-LOND. R.), good fine; another pair (596696 PTE. W. L. CURRAN. 18-LOND. R.), good very fine or better; another pair (6034 PTE. T. A. DOODY. 18-LOND. R.), near very fine and good fine; and another pair (6241 PTE. A. J. ERRIDGE. 18-LOND. R.), very fine. [8]
Private Crockford was twice gassed, on one occasion suffering severe burns to his knees. He recovered and served in the Royal Engineers before being discharged to the reserves 10/04/1919. Private Thomas Augustine Doody also served in the Leinster Regiment and the Royal Engineers. Private Albert Erridge was discharged on account of wounds 31/05/1918 and awarded the Silver War Badge.
