Autograph letter, signed, 26 Queen Square, Bloomsbury, August 1st, 1870, 3pp, to Miss Townsend, concerning the design for a stained glass window : "we might make a pleasing window with one set of figures only; these alterations would be necessary I think, because if the pattern work is too obtrusive it will hardly be fit for the dignity of a grand Minster, which cries out for art and not upholstery".
