Dickens (Charles). Autograph transcript of 9 lines from 'The Chimes', signed with characteristic flourish, Devonshire Terrace, Fourth October 1845, 1p, 8vo, removed from an album, with small traces of backing paper on verso and one small, faint stain at foot. The transcript begins: ' "Here we are and here we go " cried Troty [Trotty, ie Toby Veck], running round the room and choking audibly'. 'The Chimes' was written in 1844 and is the second 'Christmas Book'.
