Captain John Durrant (fl.1790-1830) was a highly skilled amateur artist and army officer who was stationed at Portchester Castle between 1803 and 1813. He was also stationed at Dover, Gosport and Colchester during his career. An album of over hundred drawings by him is in the collection of Hampshire council.
