Lieutenant Colonel Edward Wardroper of the 37th Bombay Native Infantry and his wife Mary Ann Marsh, both three-quarter length, seated

Both signed, in leather cases

Each 112 x 90mm (2)

These would have been painted in 1842 when he married Mary whilst on sick leave in England. They left for India in 1844. Mary died in 1848 and Edward in 1853 from smallpox.
