This is a view looking north from Maidenhead Bridge with the island of Bridge Eyot in the foreground and Cliveden House on the hill in the distance. Cliveden is an Italianate mansion 200 feet above the Thames on a hillside. The present house, the third on the site, was built in 1851 by Charles Barry for the 2nd Duke of Sutherland and it is now a five star hotel.
