The City of Amoy was built on the Clyde in 1863 by Barclay Curle and Co. and was operated by George Smith and Co. of the City Line of steam and sailing ships. It was wrecked off the Faulkland Islands in 1872, so this is, perhaps, a commemorative portrait.
