Hussey was an Officer in the 17th Light Dragoons posted to North America in 1775. In 1776 he was a Cornet (2nd Lieutenant), eventually rising to Captain. In the 1809 census he was listed as living in The Close, Salisbury and was described as 'barrister out in practice, magistrate and alderman'
