This work is from the Monro Academy Period of Turner's career c. 1795 and is based on a sketch by John Robert Cozens (1752-1799). Dr Thomas Monro employed Turner and Thomas Girtin (1775-1802) to copy scenes by Cozens sometimes working on the same pictures
