A pearlware bird whistle early 19th century, modelled as a goldfinch seated on a low stump applied with flowers and leaves, its plumage brightly and naturalistically painted, the red painted mouthpiece modelled into the base, a repair to the tail, 8.2cm high.

Condition Report

The tail has been broken off 2.5cm from the end and restuck. About 8mm from the end of the tail has also been broken off and restored. There are a couple of tiny nibbles to the end of the mouthpiece, and one flower is lacking two petals. Another is lacking three petals.
